Here are a few of the sites around the web
that we recommend:
Welcome to ESRI ESRI designs and develops the world's leading geographic information system (GIS) technology. GIS is an important tool—one that helps shape the world around us.
AutoCAD Map 3D AutoCAD® Map 3D software is the leading engineering platform for creating and managing spatial data. AutoCAD Map 3D bridges CAD and GIS by providing direct access to data and enables the use of AutoCAD® software tools for maintaining a broad variety of design and geospatial information.
FloorView FloorView is a browser-based suite of services that empowers a registered user to securely retrieve combined structural, mechanical, and technical data of buildings and the surrounding geospatial infrastructure over the wireless internet.
Smart Draw Through the innovation of the world's first visual processorTM, SmartDraw Software brings the power of visual communication to every desktop, helping first responders by improving communication, refining operations, and successfully implementing their plans.
Aims on Scene AIMSonScene™ was designed by field personnel, including tactical commanders and end users, who wanted a better way to minimize the mechanics of handling an incident.
MapWindow GIS Open Source Software The MapWindow
application is a free, extensible, geographic information system (GIS) that can
be used as an alternative desktop GIS
- To distribute data to others
- To develop and distribute custom spatial data analyses
NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) protects coastal and marine resources, mitigates threats, reduces harm, and restores ecological function. The Office provides comprehensive solutions to environmental hazards caused by oil, chemicals, and marine debris. This site has software and datasets useful for first responders dealing with Hazardous materials. Specifically:
CAMEO Software Suite
- CAMEO A database application that includes a chemical library with response recommendations for more than 6,000 chemicals, a reactivity hazards prediction tool, and several modules to assist with data management requirements under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.
- CAMEO Chemicals An online version of the most popular parts of CAMEO. Search for chemicals in the CAMEO chemical database, print customized reports with response recommendations, and find out how chemicals would react if they mixed.
- ALOHA A modeling application that estimates threat zones associated with hazardous chemical releases, including toxic gas clouds, fires, and explosions.
- MARPLOT A mapping program with which you can create, view, and modify maps quickly and easily.
CAMEO-Related Software
- LandView A database management system that uses MARPLOT as its GIS display. Database information includes Environmental Protection Agency-regulated sites, U.S. Census demographics, and U.S. Geology Survey geographic name information.
- Tier2 Submit A program that generates an electronic chemical inventory Tier II facility report, which can be used to automatically update the facility information in CAMEO.
- RMP*Comp A tool to help facilities complete the offsite consequence analysis that is required as part of the Risk Management Plan.
- The Chemical Reactivity Worksheet A program that allows you to see what reactions might occur when pairs of chemicals are mixed together. You can virtually mix any of the chemicals from the CAMEO chemical database, add reactive groups to the mix, print the resulting hazards in a reactivity report, and store collections of virtually mixed chemicals.
